Sheboygan's Socialist Mayor re-elected, liberals win School Board seats
Ryan Sorenson will serve a second term as Mayor of Sheboygan

SHEBOYGAN — Socialist Mayor Ryan Sorenson was re-elected Tuesday to a second term as Mayor of Sheboygan, defeating challenger John Belanger.
Out of 15,212 votes, Mayor Sorenson received 8,843 votes while Belanger received 6,332 votes.1 This was the most expensive mayoral election in Sheboygan history with Sorenson receiving nearly $60,000 in donations from the Democratic Party of Wisconsin and a dark money group from Washington, DC.
With Tuesday’s election, liberals now cement their control of the Sheboygan Area School District Board of Education. Mary Lynne Donohue, who is a leader with the Sheboygan County Democratic Party, was the top vote-getter. She received 11,246 votes, Allie Tasche came in second with 9,671 votes and Denise Wittstock placed third with 8,671 votes.
All three received support from the Democratic Party and labor unions.

Conservative activist Rhonda Brami and educator Roger Oliver were unsuccessful in their bids to serve on the School Board. Oliver received 7,510 votes while Brami gartered 6,847 votes. Tasche was appointed to her seat in October 2024 while Wittstock, CEO of Big Brothers Big Sisters Shoreline, is a newcomer to the School Board.
