$42 million development proposed for Van Der Vaart site

SHEBOYGAN — A developer has proposed building over 200 apartments on Sheboygan’s south side.

Green Street Development Group has proposed the redevelopment of the Van Der Vaart Concrete site at South Business Drive and Broadway Avenue. The development would include 252 apartments and 16,500-square-feet of commercial space. The proposed $42 million project is being called The Oscar and would help serve the needs of the south side neighborhood and community at large according to documents filed with the City of Sheboygan.

There is no word when construction would start on the project. “The property has been rezoned,” according to Chad Pelishek, the city’s Director of Planning & Development, which was the first step in the process. “No further timelines have been established,” added Pelishek. Van Der Vaart would continue to operate on the site until the City of Sheboygan approves the developer’s plans and the development moves forward.
