KOHLER — A new sculpture and nature preserve allows the public to learn about one of the area’s most successful businessmen.
Maverick Spirit honors the legacy of one of the boldest creators and successful industrialists in the United States, Herbert V. Kohler Jr. It was built by Creative Machines of Tucson, Arizona and was unveiled in December 2023.1 Mr. Kohler died on September 3rd, 2022 at the age 83.2
Rising 26 feet in the air, the one-of-a-kind moving sculpture is a creative and technical marvel composed of 61 stainless steel blades, each representing one year of the late executive chairman’s service to the company. The sculpture spins in a helix pattern, opening and closing in an awe-inspiring design, surrounded by more than 1.5 miles of trails and boardwalks in the Kohler Company Nature Preserve.
When you visit, stand at a distance and be mesmerized. The $1.4 million3 sculpture is located at Highland Drive and Twin Oaks Drive in the Village of Kohler. It is open to the public and parking is free. Visitors are asked to be respectful and refrain from bringing their dogs to the preserve.
