Police investigate Downtown Sheboygan shooting
SHEBOYGAN — For the second time since last October, Sheboygan Police are investigating a shooting of a teenage boy across from Sheboygan’s City Hall.
The Sheboygan Police Department was called to the Shoreline Metro Transfer Station across from City Hall shortly after 1 PM on Friday, May 6th for a report of a 17-year-old boy being shot. Paramedics from the Sheboygan Fire Department located the victim with a gunshot wound and transported him to Aurora Sheboygan Memorial Medical Center.
Officers, including Captain Steve Cobb, were seen speaking with a visibly distraught female teenager with blood on her hands. Detectives were seen searching an alley and parking lot east of the Transfer Station while deputies from the Sheboygan County Sheriff’s Office assisted police.
Police confirmed one person was shot and injured. Officers informed downtown businesses and residents to shelter in place. According to police, the victim had met the suspect in an alley in the 500 block of North 8th Street prior to the incident and both are known to each other. The suspect fled the scene. Police believe this is an isolated incident and are actively involved in locating the suspect and any other individuals involved in the incident.
Crime scene tape wrapped a full city block along North 8th Street, Center Avenue, North 9th Street and Pennsylvania Avenue. The crime scene tape prevented customers from entering Olivü 426 and Freaktoyz.
On October 29, 2021, a 16-year-old boy was fatally shot at the Shoreline Metro Transfer Station. The boy was transported by ambulance to Children’s Wisconsin where he died. A 16-year-old Milwaukee boy was arrested in connection with the shooting.
