A statewide Silver Alert was issued for 86-year-old Dorothy Friede
SHEBOYGAN — A woman reported missing from the Aldi store in Sheboygan over the weekend was identified as one of two victims killed in a head-on crash near Elkhart Lake.
A statewide Silver Alert was issued on Saturday, April 23rd for 86-year-old Dorothy Friede after she was last seen driving away the grocery store at South Taylor Drive and New Jersey Avenue around 5 PM. Several hours later, the Sheboygan County Sheriff’s Office started receiving several 911 calls around 8:38 PM about a multi-vehicle crash on Highway 57 at County Road MM in the Town of Rhine.
According to Sgt. Jesse Smith, a northbound vehicle went left of center and struck a southbound vehicle head-on. There was a fatally injured person from each of those vehicles. The Wisconsin Department of Justice would later cancel the Silver Alert for Friede shortly after 1 AM on Sunday, saying she was located deceased.
On Tuesday, the Sheriff’s Office identified the two victims as Friede and Betty Mae Seibel of St. Cloud. Lieutenant Larry Perronne did not indicate if they were drivers or passengers. In issuing the Silver Alert, Sheboygan Police said Friede had Alzheimer’s and could have been confused.
